This picture is a counter point to the diptychs, it shows a patient marked up for a breast reduction and again there’s an underlined narrative of before and after. The surgeon’s drawing not only gives a clue to how the subject’s body will look in the long term, but also precisely delineate where the knife is going to dissect human flesh in the short term.
