| 1.03.06 Picture pefect at portrait party Evening Standard "The National Portrait gallery threw a star studded gala to celebrate its 150th anniversary and launch a new appeal to acquire paintings for the nation. Former Prime Minister Sir John Major, Jerry Hall and David Hockney were at the party. The NPG's "collecting for the future" appeal aims to strengthen the institution's classic and contemporary collection. A "silent portrait auction" included photographs by Mario Testino and Sam Taylor Wood and a Bruce Oldfield couture dress inspired by Joshua Reynolds' portrait of Johanna Lloyd An anonymous buyer bid £31,000 to sit for artist Jonathan Yeo while a Peter Blake watercolour of Kate Moss raised £12,000. With mystery postcards at £150 each, the NPG was hoping to raise more than £200,000 on the night...."
