‘Jonathan Yeo Portraits’ has come to a final close after its year-and-a-half-long tour
Over the last eighteen months ‘Jonathan Yeo Portraits’ has travelled the lengths of the country, from its opening at the National Portrait Gallery in London, to The Lowry in Salford, Greater Manchester, and finally to its close at Newcastle’s Laing Art Gallery. The mid-career retrospective achieved great critical acclaim and attracted over 290,000 visitors in total, with the paid exhibition at the Laing raising significant funds for the institution.
The tour involved many memorable events, most notably the publication of The Many Faces of Jonathan Yeo and the BBC1 Culture Show special, which was filmed to coincide with the opening at the National Portrait Gallery. The final show at the Laing concluded with a visit from HRH Duchess of Cornwall, who was invited to see her portrait there for the first time.
